PostSubject: Just bought this... 61 Ford Econoline   Mon Apr 05 2010, 13:28

I have a load of stuff over at my shippers that i need back here asap and the two cars i just shipped for friends couldnt fit anything like it all in so i kinda had no choice but to find another vehicle to ship. so anyway i found this and it looked ideal, it's a nice original 61 Econoline that has a camper interior fitted. There's a 50 page thread about these on the Hamb forum, from standard with original sign writing to all out customs. they seem too look good in any style if done right... some of my favorites are actually gassers! Smile

Well i wasn't looking for one really but when i saw that one i had a good scout round to see what the prices were like and that one was by far the best and most original, most were either badly customized or old work beaters.

No idea on price, i'd like to see it in the flesh first and it obviously depends how much i do to it... MOT, regstering etc etc.

Yes lots of updates, i was sure i'd updated this page... wrong obviously!

It arrived, much better than i expected, one small hole in the L/H sill and that was the only rot on the whole van! it had a good service and brake rebuild then went straight through an MOT. it's now UK registered and i've been using it as a daily for a while. drives really nice, not the quickest thing in the world but a great cruiser. interior is so well done, kitted out for some serious camping with a big gas heater, big fridge, double hob and big water tank. only a single bed though.

It had 13" wheels with 175/75 studded tyres on which were far too small it also has snow chains in the back aswell as leveling axle axle stands(to get it level while camped), warning markers, a table that hooks on to the inside of the door and lots more.

a week or so after i got it i opened the side cabinet next to the hob which was held shut with 3 wingnuts, i didn't expect to find the supplies in there which included, rice, flour, salt, pepper, bog roll and some other powders and potions which i'm not sure what they are. there are also a number of news papers in there ranging from 64-69.

lots more i could say but it's late so i'll post a few pics while i'l still able to keep my eyes open...

I've had them on the back already, the tyres have raised white lettering which gives it a 70's look but whitebands would work as well too, maybe better.

Still not sure whether to sell or keep it, maybe i'll sleep on it over the winter Laughing
