| Guys, am celebrating the anniversary of the Beetle this year by starting the resto on my '67 1500. Thing is, been out of the VW scene for donkey's years. As a result am not sure if NOS heater channels are available and wondered which repro panels are the best to go for. The car will be a largely OEM resto so want heater channels that actually work and have the right vents etc. Can anyone shed light please? Will also need some pans, suspension mounts, inner wings and perhaps frame head Tim will love doing this resto after all of his sun kissed Californian easy resto toss. Oh, and I wanna get some of those funky blue rubber running board covers. Where d'ya get 'em? | |

Seriously!? The bug heats up really quickly- then melts your shoes The bus is a little slower to warm up but only because it's a bigger space. There's no reason why the heaters shouldn't work.

| OK good luck...old VW buses have the same heater systems (well they look the same to me) as Porsche 911s, and having owned one in the early 80s, its heater never worked, and nor have any of the heaters in buses that Ive owned since......could be bad luck of course......... | |

heater channels are the sills on a beetle, nothing to do with the heaters except the heater pipes run through them... on the subject of heat, my heaters in the westy and my 61 camper are scorching, it all depends if you have genuine heat exchangers or not, repro ones are shit giving about a 3rd of the heat and you can't buy genuine ones anymore so if they don't have them you'll struggle to get them... i have used my last pair

| My Bug always had red hot heating but now she's a tad rotten so am starting to source the bits. Can anyone recommend the next best thing to N.O.S for heater channels and heat exchangers please? There seems to be loads of new companies sprouting up since I stopped following the slug scene about 7 years ago but not sure who is the best to use for this stuff? I do hate ill fitting repro shite.... | |
