First year(pre Aug 1968) Bay register...

I'd like to start an early bay register partly for my own interest as much as anything but of course i'll have it all on a web page too for everyone else who's interested to see. for a start i'll be covering the first year of production from Aug 1st 1967(vin# 218000001 to 218 202 251) to pre Aug 1st 1968(Vin#219000001) so basically if the 3rd digit is 8 i want to know....

Vin# (chassis number)
Built: (date)
Body type: (panel van, kombi, single cab etc)
M-codes: (from the painted plate behind the Left front seat)
Model: (deluxe micro bus, Westfalia, transporter etc)
Paint: (original code and colour if you know it or what colour it is now)
Originaly delivered to: (where it was originally delivered to from the factory)

19 1 = production date 19th January 1968

543 = without seats in passenger compartment

707 = special build code (no info yet, but did appear on Knut's 1971 camper)

737 = without portable chair but with guiding rails on floor (this is a code for a model 27 or ambulance though?)

11 = 1600cc engine with 4spd gearbox

020 = speedometer and odometer in miles

061 = Type labeling of seat mounting and identification plates for England & Ireland

191 = with outer and centre underfloor plates

196 = no code listed (also seen on Snakey's 1968 Danbury and Goose's 1967 camper)

EN = Destination code UK, Ramsgate

2240 = Microbus RHD with sliding door left, 8 seater arrangement 2-3-3

020234 = Savanna beige L620 roof and body with khaki brown leatherette

8084078 = 1968 model year chassis number

its now in lincoln and green,its not the origanal westy interior,this was long gone when i got it

history : I bought it from the original owners' son in 2002. The bus was used for holidays and travelled to Morocco, Scandinavia, Ireland and Scotland with PO. So far, i've been to England ( Bug Jam 2002 ), Ireland, Corsica and Spain with it.
As it spent most of its life in the South of France, it is rust-free ! Next on the list is the replacement of the left-hand corner that was (badly) replaced after an accident and a respray.

When i bought this bus it had a leaky, non original pop-top conversion and a non original respray over badly restored body work. Gradually been sorting it all out and it has been returned to a tin-top and the body work is being done to a higher standard as funds allow. It has an excellent original interior apart from the floor tiles are missing. Would love to get it back to L242 at some stage.

Hi there, purchased an early bay that was first registered on 2nd may of '68.
It was purchased by the Freiwillige Feuerwehr of Hainsdorf, near Graz, Austria.
It has VIN-nr: 23 8 123309

I always thought mine was an oldie, to date I haven't seen an older uk spec van so I'd love to know if there is one.

23/08/67 wow! that's 2 days older than the 1st Bus i added at the top of this thread, they were proable at the factory at the same time which is cool, got any pics for us?

Lots in print format, not many digital. I'll have to scan some to send. At present, while I'm working on it, it's not a particularly good position for photos. It may take a while, I'm not sure about the process of loading pics onto these forums.
One added detail: this was first registered Oct '67. I'm not sure which registration area uses YR.
